First Online Gambling License in New Jersey Goes to The Borgata

The state of New Jersey just announced that the Borgata Hotel Casino and Spa, owned by Boyd Gaming and MGM Resorts, is the first recipient to the state's online gambling permits. The Division of Gaming Enforcement has began processing all the applications for legal online gambling within New Jersey's jurisdiction and apparently there have already been some that are successful. It is official, online gambling is now legal in New Jersey!

This makes New Jersey the third state with official legal online gambling, and players in this state have an advantage over players in Delaware and Nevada because the law that was passed includes more than one form of gambling. In Nevada the legislation only allows online poker to be offered to residents, online casinos did not make the bill since they are not considered games of skill, but of chance. New Jersey is currently being looked at as the most profitable sector for online gambling in what is available of the US market.

The Borgata is one of the 12 hotel and casinos in Atlantic City which are allowed to submit online gambling applocations. On November 21st all the licensed casinos will launch a trial period for their online products, and if everything goes well, their official launch is expected to occur on November 26th. Other casinos waiting to hear the news include Caesars Entertainment, Trump Entertainment Resorts, Tropicana Casino and Resort, and The Golden Nuggett. The Borgata has partnered with Bwin.Party Digital Entertainment Plc. in order to bring top class online gambling services to New Jersey residents.
