As the year comes to an end we thought it would be a good time to remember some infamous casino moments from the past. As a disclaimer, we would like to say that this article is not for the faint of heart as some of these stories might cause severe anger and frustration. For the rest of you, please enjoy these signature moments which remind us that it is important to always look at the fun side of things.
1. Some of you may recall this event, but let us refresh your memory. Back in Decemeber of 2008, a man named Paul Kusnirewicz hit the jackpot for $42.9 million in Wasaga Beach, Ontario, Canada. Mr. Kusnirewicz was playing a slot machine when all the lights and bells on the machine went off and told him he had won an outrageous amount of money. Like any other online casino winner, Mr. Kusnirewicz could not believe his luck and as he waited for the casino officials to come pay him he began making plans on how he would spend his millions and how his life would never be the same.
To Mr. Kusnirewicz's surprise, and everyone else's around him, the casino officials quickly came to verify the event and shorty after communicated that the machine had undergone a malfunction and that the prize awarded was a computational error. According to the officials, the maximum amount the machine could award was $9,025 and they offered to make it up to Mr. Kusnirewicz with a free dinner. However, a long law suit followed these events. Yikes!
2. This is not a single event, but rather a phenomenon that started occurring at brick and mortar casinos. It was reported that during the months of January 2010, and July 2012, 85 kids were found unsupervised at casinos in the state of Illinois. The children were found inside the casinos, and also outside, while their parents were going at it at the tables. This was all over the news and of course it did not help the case for legal gambling in the United States in the least bit.
For all those parents guilty of leaving children unsupervised around casinos, we recommend that they spend a couple dollars on a babysitter for those gambling nights or that they start playing at online casinos so they can stay at home taking care of their children. Gambling is fun, but not so much fun as to leave your children unsupervised. Remember, be responsible!
