UK Gambling Commission Responds to Scam Accusations

Over the past few weeks the UK Gambling Commission has received accusations toward its security systems and the overall reliability of the online gambling licenses they provide. The accusations carry very serious connotations about the reputation of the entire online gambling industry, and many online gambling services operators are based in the United Kingdom. The situation was very alarming and many players expressed serious concern about continuing their online gambling activities on UK based companies.

The UK Gambling Commission had not addressed the accusations and it remained silent for a very long time, raising doubts and concern among players. However, today we have great news as they have released a statement that aims to provide a sense of security for active online casino players who were alarmed by the accusations. The statement reads: "Concerns have previously been raised over the security of submitting data electronically. Our online system is encrypted and requires licensees to authenticate themselves before being able to submit and access their own data."

The Commission is trying to inform everyone that their information systems operate with top notch encryption technology and the tightest security protocols available. Players can be reassured that licensees are following strict guidelines to guarantee their private information and all data traveling the internet remains safe at all times.

The statement also said: "We have been accredited against the ISO: 27001 standard since 2010. This is an internationally recognized standard for evaluating how securely an organization manages and stores its information. As a public authority, the Commission also adheres to the Security Policy Framework and supporting guidance issued by Cabinet Office to ensure that the information we process is handled and stored in a secure manner in line with best practice and HMG requirements."

All of the information on the statement can be verified, so if you are currently playing on a UK based casino you should know that your information is safe and that the accusations were unfounded. Nobody really knows if there was ever any evidence to support the accusations, we all know that fraud is a danger that can arise, but online casino operators truly do a wonderful job to keep players safe from malicious third parties. The stories of fraud and identity theft are very few and the perpetrators are usually captured and exposed really fast, whilst the victim is often quickly refunded and any losses are properly dealt with by the online casino staff.
