Understanding Playtech Lucky Blackjack Online

Playtech offers a fixed odds blackjack variant titled Lucky Blackjack at its online casinos. You do not have to bother with the skill based optimum strategy. The game play is also different because the player’s hand is not dealt and there are no moves to be made by the player. You have to guess the final value of the dealer’s hand. Lucky Blackjack can be played at Playtech online casinos such as Mansion Casino and Omni Casino.

The dealer can end up standing on hand values from 17 to 21. The dealer can also bust and can also draw a blackjack. In Playtech Lucky Blackjack you can wager on any one or more of the seven options. If the option selected by you is the actual option that is dealt, then you receive a payout. A dealer’s hand of 17 pays 5 to 1, 18 pays 6 to 1, 19 pays 6 to 1, 20 pays 4 to 1, 21 pays 12 to 1, bust pays 2 to 1 and blackjack pays 19 to 1.

The minimum bet in Playtech Lucky Blackjack is 1 credit and the maximum bet is 5 credits. If you want to change the bets placed then click the “Clear Bets” button and all bets will be removed. After placing the bets you click the Deal button. The dealer’s hand is automatically dealt according to the blackjack rules. The final hand value is displayed. All losing bets are forfeited and the winning bet is paid out.

Playtech Lucky Blackjack has a simple strategy based on the probabilities of the different outcomes of the dealer’s hand and the odds offered for each. The dealer will bust about 28.4% of the time. The correct odds should be 5 to 2, whereas the actual payout offered is only 2 to 1. This bet has a high house edge of 15% and should not be placed. Similarly the house edges for bets on a dealer’s hand value of 17 and 20 are too high at about 12%. These bets also should be avoided. Bet on 18 offers a house edge of 3%, 19 offers a house edge of 6%, 21 offers a house edge of 4% and blackjack offer a house edge of 3%. These are comparable with the house edge on online slots and can be wagered if you are prepared to take that risk. However, if you are a skilled blackjack player you can get a house edge of only 1% on the regular variants. In that event Lucky Blackjack is not the game for you.
